Above the Nimbin mountains in New South Wales lies Mountain Top Estate. The farm was founded by Mr Andrew Ford almost 20 years ago. This washed coffee is grown in a perfect micro-climate at a high altitude, rich volcanic soil and with long mild winters, which allows for slow ripening of the coffee cherries. The long ripening process creates a distinctive coffee with very rich flavours. Mountain Top estate is located almost 1000 miles south of the Tropic of Capricorn, this makes it the southernmost coffee grown in the world. As Australia lacks many of the diseases and pests that can be found in most other coffee growing countries, Mountain Top estate benefits from being able to employee sustainable approaches to farming, using no pesticides, fungicides or fumigants to their coffee production. The cup profile is sweet with hints of molasses, with an earthy fragrance.
