This Galapagos estate coffee is grown on the island of Santa Cruz, the second largest in the archipelago in the group of islands. All the coffee from the island is produced from the same Bourbon variety of coffee plants that were introduced by French agronomists all the way back in 1875. Santa Cruz Island is fortunate to enjoy a very special microclimate and rich, fertile volcanic soil which intensifies the coffee bean's flavours and allows it to compete with higher altitude coffees.
Galapagos Islands' law prohibits the use of chemicals and other pesticides, so this Santa Cruz Estate coffee is naturally organic. In addition to coffee, the island also cultivates other permanent crops such as avocados, sugarcane, lemons, and oranges. One of our most popular coffees, well liked for its chocolate and caramel notes and bold yet smooth flavour.
