Established in 1936, Hacienda Pons in Lares, Castañer stands as a testament to four generations of family coffee production under the stewardship of Jose Pons, grandson of founder Pedro Pons Arbona. Proudly maintaining its heritage with original machinery and structures, this estate embodies the rich coffee tradition of the Puerto Rican region of Castañer, which is renowned for its coffee production since the late 19th and early 19th centuries and large Haciendas. Hacienda Pons now specialises in producing medium lots of specialty coffee for the finest and most demanding coffee markets.
Situated in a famed coffee-growing region in Puerto Rico, known for its ideal mild climate and rich soil, Hacienda Pons consistently yields superb coffee. Grown at 640 metres above sea level, the fantastic weather conditions and meticulous standards of the estate have a superb effect on these coffee beans. The result is a versatile coffee that consistently yields an excellent cup, equally suitable for cafetiere or espresso.
