Puerto Rico - Haiti - Guadeloupe

Our Caribbean gift set highlights some of the finest and most exotic coffees the world has to offer. The Caribbean is home to some of the rarest coffees, with typically small yields and ideally growing conditions. Featuring the origins of Puerto Rico, Haiti, and Guadeloupe island.

Hacienda Pons Estate:

Hacienda Pons, our successor to 360 Reserva, was founded in 1936 and is in its fourth generation of family production, currently managed by Jose Pons, the grandson of Pedro Pons Arbona. This fine coffee comes from the city of Lares in the region of Castaner, which is famous for its high quality coffees and mild weather. Castaner has been a coffee producing area since the late 18th and early 19th century, now specialising in specialty coffee for the finest and most demanding coffee markets.

The result is a versatile coffee equally suitable for cafetiére or espresso with a full body that engulfs the mouth, buttery tones and a dark chocolate finish.

Savannah Zombie, Haiti:

This lovely washed Marre Blanche Arabica Typica coffee originates from the Thiotte Region in the Savannah Zombie micro-region of Haiti. The village of Thiotte is overlooked by the Southeastern Haitian mountains, where the coffee is shade grown at an altitude of 1200 - 1400m under the optimal climatic and environmental conditions provided by the Great Haitian Forest. This Savannah Zombie coffee is a testimony not only to the variety of Typica but also to the resilience of the Haitian small holder farmers who have joined forces to produce a very elegant coffee.

A superbly smooth and balanced coffee with floral notes.

Guadeloupe Island, Vanibel Estate:

Guadeloupe Island is the oldest region in the Western Hemisphere growing coffee today. In 1723, Gabriel Mathieu de Clieu, a young French Naval officer, fell in love with the exquisite taste of coffee - then a newly discovered beverage in Europe.

Mr. de Clieu then took a risk and exposed himself to many perils in order to take a coffee plant from the Royal Botany Garden in Paris to the the Island of Martinique in the Caribbean, as he thought the climate of the Caribbean was ideal for producing excellent quality coffee. The coffee was then introduced to Guadeloupe in 1726 by Mr de Clieu, who became Governor of Guadeloupe Island in 1728.

This 100% Arabica Typica coffee is a direct descendant of the strain of coffee introduced by Mr. de Clieu to Guadeloupe in 1726. It has genetically remained completely and absolutely 'pure', meaning that you will enjoy the very same 'cup' as the one Mr de Clieu fell in love with 300 years ago! The Vanibel Estate coffee is grown at 350 meters of altitude, it is shade grown (mostly banana trees), hand-picked, hand-sorted, sun-dried and naturally processed.

The cup is unique – with exceptionally mild acidity, body and aroma, and many mixed floral overtones.
