New Caledonia

A French dependency in the South Pacific, New Caledonia, has produced coffee since the Marist monks first planted coffee beans in 1860. Famous for the 'Leroy' varietal, also called Pointed Bourbon, which has garnered the nickname 'The President' as it was regularly delivered to the Elysee Palace, where it was a favourite of France’s former president, Jacques Chirac.
